Then this course is for you. You'll get tonnes of scene practise and support as well as exploring a variety of styles.

Who is it for?
This course is aimed at Intermediate level. i.e You’re not completely new to improvisation but are keen to broaden your skills. The content of the course is then further tailored to the experience level of the group.
How much is it?

How many people will there be?
The class is capped at 14 places so you'll get loads of chances to perform and play.
What will the workshop cover?
The 5 days will be split into 10 x 2.5 hour workshops. Sounds intense, right? It will be. But in the best way. You can forget about the cold January blues, the responsibilities of work, and the troubles of the world and for 5 glorious days immerse yourself in pure creative improv joy.
Each class will cover a specific improvisation theme, style or school of thought. The whole course will leave you with a bunch of practical tools as well as a reminder that being improvising is ultimately a playful and joyful mindset.
Who is Maria Peters?
Maria has been improvising, writing and performing comedy professionally since 2008.
When Maria is in London she loves being half of one of the UK’s top improv duos, Breaking and Entering with Lauren Shearing.
She also guests in many improv ensembles including Suki Webster and Paul Merton's Improv Show, The 50-hour Improvathon, Hell yeah, and the Yes Queens.
She regularly performs internationally, most recently with a critically acclaimed sell-out solo show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as well as traveling the globe to Improv Festivals to teach and perform.
She's written for BBC Radio Comedy and played on stages across the UK, Europe and the USA.
Now based in Bristol, she collaborates with The Bristol Improv Theatre. Performing in their flagship musical theatre company, This Is Your Musical! Along with long-form team The Muses.

Remembering that there's no ONE right way to improvise. So the real fun is in discovering your own particular passions, preferences and strengths.

Wednesday 6th January 2027
11:00 - 13:30 You'll never walk alone
Let others support you, and in turn look to support others. Remembering how to trust your fellow players because it's almost as if they've... (checks notes)... Got your back?
14:30 - 17:00 Following the rules Vs Looking for mischief
There's a balance to be struck. Too far on the rules side and you'll be constantly frowning, treating improv as a problem to be solved. But too far the other way and you'll be known as a nightmare chaos merchant (but not in a fun way).
Thursday 7th January 2027
11:00 - 13:30 Open Scene work with supportive notes
A chance to get a lot of scene reps in with a lot of side coaching to make the 'easier' choices that keep your scenes flowing.

Friday 8th January 2027
11:00 - 13:30 Multi-Character & Multi-Scene PlayTime
Choose the format you enjoy. Choose the characters you love. Less coaching and more chance to play back to back scenes in mini perfomance sets to each other.
14:30 - 17:00 Group Music Making
Whether you want to take the solo limelight or stay in the background clicking your fingers. We end the week on a group-singing high. Because as Dolly Parton (RIP) knew. You always gotta finish on a song, baby.
